Our Social Impact

Social responsibility is important to us, so we've created our Northbridge Cares program to help us support, educate, and encourage Canadian children and youth to reach their full potential. We do this by contributing 2% of our pre-tax profit to meaningful causes and in 2023, we donated over $8.4 million.

TEAMING UP TO DO GOOD

We engage our employees, brokers and customers and bolster their social impact.
Community Impact
Project
Employees nominate their preferred charity and colleagues cast their votes to help great causes win $5,000 each.
Double Matching
Employee Donations
We match up to $2,000 per employee. In 2023, we donated a total of $37,000 through this program.
Broker and Customer
Donation Matching
We match up to $10,000 per brokerage. In 2023, we matched over $226,000 in donations through this program.
Employee Volunteer Grants
When an employee volunteers over 40 hours of their spare time, we donate $500 to that organization.
Team Volunteer Days
Our employees get a day off to participate as a team and contribute their time to a cause in their community.
Fundraising Sponsorship
We cover our employees' registration fees - and our teams participate in several fundraising campaigns each year.

OUR NATIONAL CHARITABLE PARTNERS

We're proud to collaborate with six national charitable partners whose missions resonate with our focus on creating a tangible impact in the lives of children and youth within our communities. For details on how we support causes beyond our national partners, check out our latest Public Accountability Statement.

Jack.org is a charity that supports youth mental health by training and empowering young leaders across the nation through conversation, camaraderie, and community-building. By enabling young people to guide the discussion, jack.org has created a unique peer-focused network that better connects with fellow young Canadians.

We proudly support the 160 jack chapters across Canada who work hard to help ensure youth can ask for and offer help more freely.

Pathways to Education focuses on breaking the cycle of poverty through education. Its award-winning program helps youth in low-income communities by providing them resources and a network of support to graduate from high school and build the foundation for a successful future.

We provide paid internship opportunities to Pathways alumni through our Pathways Internship program. These internships help cultivate valuable skills in a workplace setting and establish a network of professional contacts.

SickKids is among the world's leaders in conducting cutting-edge research, and providing complex and specialized healthcare for children.

We're committed to supporting their research by funding endowments in support of a Chair in Pediatric Research, a Chair in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, a Fellowhip in Cancer Research, and the Catalyst Scholar for Healthy Active Kids to combat childhood obesity in Canada.

ThriveYouth delivers arts-based leadership development programs to children and youth in undeserved communities across Canada.

We're ThriveYouth's champion partner and support a variety of initiatives, such as Learn Create Explore, Youth Lead Impact, and Build to Change. We've had an executive board presence with them for the past 25 years.

Tree Canada is dedicated to the planting and maintenance of urban and rural trees across the country. They help grow Canada's tree canopy through research, engagement efforts and grants to communities and schools.

Through Tree Canada, we help restore green spaces in our community. We support Operation ReLeaf to help communities after natural disasters. We also support the greening of schools across Canada every year.

United Way focuses on moving people from poverty to possibility, helping kids reach their potential by providing educational, recreational, family and guidance support, and building strong and healthy communities.

We've teamed up with United Way to support their Youth Housing & Homelessness Prevention Fund. This fund contributes to the work of local organizations, such as 360Kids, Boys & Girls Club, and Yellow Brick House – just to name a few.

WE COME TOGETHER TO GIVE TOGETHER

Each year, Northbridge Financial employees coordinate their efforts to raise money and awareness for our six core charitable partners. We expand our roster to include four additional charities that champion important causes. In 2023, we supported four such organizations:
