My growth journey

I was referred to work here by a friend when I was fresh out of university and I thought, “I’ll probably just be here for a year or two." Well, fast forward to now – and I’m not only still here, but firmly believe joining Federated was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I joined Federated in 2007 as an Administrative Assistant and by 2008, I was promoted to Customer Service Representative. In June 2020, I was a part of the Underwriting Trainee program for Underwriting, and four months later, I was already working as an Associate Underwriter!

I'm supported in my passions

Another great thing about working here is I feel encouraged to prioritize what matters to me. For example: I’m a CrossFit enthusiast and am passionate about volunteering. I’ve volunteered at CrossFit competitions and events like the Pan Am Games, but the cause closest to my heart is Element Connect. Founded after the death of George Floyd and the discovery of the mass graves of indigenous children, Element Connect spreads awareness about black and indigenous communities. I really value that I can be flexible with my working hours to fit my passions into my life.

My advice to someone considering applying

Just apply! If you want to join a company where your growth is a priority, and you feel constantly supported - we are the place for you. Beyond the growth opportunities, the people I’ve met, the work I get to do, and the culture I get to experience truly makes me feel grateful. Our culture is inclusive, diverse, and transparent. Underwriting Development Program

As part of this program, employees can enhance their knowledge in policy and product development, get national exposure to various risks, and grow their technical expertise. It's also a great opportunity to build their professional network.

Volunteer Days and Grants

Our employees get a day off to participate as a team and contribute their time to a cause in their community. Also, when an employee volunteers over 40 hours of their spare time, we donate $500 to that organization.

Own Your Week Program

More flexibility means you can balance your time in a way that works best for you. Schedule a later time to hit the gym or get home earlier so you can meet the school bus. As long as you work 7.5 hours each day - you're good to go!
